I saw felt Christmas trees all over Pinterest during the last holiday season and thought “what a great idea” – I had planned to make one for Little Dude so he could decorate his own tree instead of playing with my Travelling Christmas tree, but one thing led to another… and, well, it didn’t happen. So here we are approaching Easter and making use of the great idea felt Christmas tree idea!
Fun Fact
Did you know that felt sticks to felt on its own?! I know right… your life just got a little bit better now that you know that, haha.
What you need:
– Felt paper (2 sheets for the basket and however many you would like to decorate with and make the eggs)
– Poster board
– Hot glue/hot glue gun
– Scissors
– Painters tape (optional)
I started with three sheets of felt paper to make cut out the basket, but soon realized if you cut the handle first you can use the inside scraps as the basket portion if flipped upside down. Sounds more confusing than it really is… buy a few extras if you’re nervous to do the cutting.
The picture below shows the inside piece of felt from the handle cut out spread out a little to make the basket shape.
I then used hot glue to glue the basket to the poster board. Cut out a few shapes to decorate the basket and make it a little prettier. Cut out 4 eggs. And finally used painters tape to attach the poster board to the wall in our living room.
My Little Dude has been playing “the egg game” as we call it for a few weeks now and has been having a blast finding the eggs and bringing them to the basket. I have to admit, I did not think this game would be as big of a hit as it has been…but there you have it – a simple $5 project has provided hours of entertainment!
Have fun playing “the egg game” 🙂
