Thinking about ideas for celebrating at home has me soooo excited to ring in the new year. I think if there is one thing we can all agree on at the end of 2020 is that we could all stand to live in the moment a little more often.

In 2020 we’ve become resourceful, planted gardens, enjoyed curb-side pick up options, celebrated major life milestones, holidays and more. Now as we prepare for to ring in the new year here are 5 ideas for celebrating at home:
Table of Contents
Travel the world at home
Create an around the world tour by going from room to room. You could make the tour food themed, drink themed, or mix up with something different in each space. Here is an idea: Start in the living room (Atlantic Canada) with bacon wrapped scallops, travel to France for some croissants and cheese in a bedroom, make your way to the dining room for your favorite meal (wherever it may be from) and then finish the evening in Italy with Mionetto Prestige Rose in the family room.
Opt for a special bottle of wine or champagne
Is there a more perfect pairing than sparkling wine and New Year’s Eve? We don’t think so! ANBL has an amazing deal on sparkling wines – from December 27-31, buy a bottle of these bubbles and save $4. Even better…buy 2 and save $10. Visit your local store to stock up on your bubbly to make your New Year’s Eve sparkle!
Go outside
Whether you are bundled up next to a fire pit roasting marshmallows, creating ‘smores and sipping hot cocoa or creating an outdoor feeling inside with stars projected on the ceiling, a bed mattress in the family room and glasses of your favorite mock-tails at your side you’ll have the feeling of being outside. Enjoy the fresh air, the company and make a cozy toast to the new year.
Use the “special stuff”
Everyone has something we only use when guests are over. You know, the fancy dishes you only take out once a year or the glasses you have stored away for a special toast… get that thing out, whatever it is and use it. YOU deserve the fanciest, nicest things you own; hopefully they make you feel just as special as you would want your guests to feel when you bring them out. Bonus idea – get dressed up, wear your “fancy clothes” and don’t forget the shoes!
Piñata, Sparkle, Cake & Balloons
Close your eyes and picture everything you think of when you hear the word “celebrate”. Create what you see in your mind at home… that might mean a birthday cake, a piñata filled with your favourite candies, milk shakes, helium balloons, sparklers, macarons, prosecco, a movie night, playing cards, a certain meal, and the list goes on and on.
Celebrating has nothing to do with where we are but everything to do with the feeling we create and who we choose to celebrate with (be it in person, on the phone or through video chat). May your heart be full of hope, love and gratitude – Cheers!
